Did anyone see the NBA Dunk Contest over the weekend? I watch the All-Star weekend every year and this year may have pushed me away from it until they improve it. It was the most unimpressive dunk contest I have ever witnessed. My first complaint is the line-up. Jaylen Brown, Mac McClung, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Jacob Toppin. They had 2 g-league players and a guy that can't dribble with his left (Jaylen Brown).  Now onto the dunks. Jaime Jaquez Jr. dunked over Shaquille O'Neal but pushed off of him, so not too crazy. Then he did a dunk... with a hat on... that was it. This dunk bewildered me at how uncreative and weak it was. Toppin had a better dunk with a reverse jumping over someone. Jaylen Brown was astounding, it was astounding how uncreative his dunks were (I'm a Celtics fan). First he dunked with a white glove on his left hand, that was the whole dunk. After he proceeded to jump over a 5'4 man... that was sitting in a chair. Mac McClung the only one who had good du...

No Lime or Salt Jumping into the world of tequilas Your first experience with tequila was probably in college at a pregame or a party where someone came back with the cheapest tequila handle they could find. Overindulging in this throat-burning cheap tequila is not the best choice, however, finding a good-tasting tequila could result in a far more enjoyable experience when you know what you are looking for. So, let's try and find that perfect tequila for you. Appreciation of the Process Before exploring the various tequilas available, I would like to highlight the labor that goes into making a bottle of tequila. Distilleries typically have different methods of preparation for tequila, moving forward we will be taking a look at how Tequila Fortaleza produces their spirit. It all starts with the Blue Weber agave plant, grown in the Tequila Valley of Jalisco, Mexico for at least 8 years, “Jimadors” harvest these blue agaves quickly and efficiently in the grueling sun of Mexico....

Book 1, Post 2

Reading Putting the Rabbit in the Hat by Brian Cox was a great time. The reading was structured in a way that I kind of forgot I was reading. The stories are great as Cox does not hold back on his thoughts of other actors or directors. It is very different to me reading about Cox holding himself accountable for many things he wishes he had done better. It was a breath of fresh air since most people fail to acknowledge their own shortcomings especially in an autobiography.  I do think that at first I wanted to relate to his story in some way, but this did not end up happening and I am okay with that because it made it all the more interesting reading about drastically different experiences than my own. One thing that was in my mind while reading was that Cox has always been passionate about acting and it is portrayed very clearly in this book. For me, Cox’s ambition from a young age really made me think about why I haven’t found something I am truly passionate about. Reading this b...

Appreciating Tequila (taking suggestions) Sub header  Your first experience with tequilas was probably in college at a pregame or a party where someone came back with the cheapest tequila handle they could find. It was probably not the best choice over indulging in this throat burning alcohol. However, finding a good tasting tequila is a far more enjoyable experience when you know what you are looking for. So, let's try and find that perfect tequila for you! Appreciation of the Process First, I want everybody to see the labor that goes into a bottle of tequila. Many distilleries have different methods to their preparation of tequila, we will be taking a look at how Tequila Fortaleza produces their tequila. It all starts with the blue agaves, grown in the Tequila Valley of Jalisco, Mexico, which take at least 8 years to grow and mature. “Jimadors” harvest these blue agaves quickly and efficiently in the grueling sun of Mexico.  The harvested agave hearts are then sent to be slo...

Book 1, Post 1

The book I have chosen to read is Brian Cox’s Putting the Rabbit in the Hat . I chose this book because the subject of the book, Brian Cox, was an actor I have recently discovered through Succession . When I think of actors, I have a preconception that they started at a higher point in life than normal such as being from an affluent family however this is not the case for Brian Cox. Reading this Cox’s autobiography has really helped me remember that even people that are very successful were not always as fortunate their whole lives. So, I think that reading this book has reminded me to relieve my preconceived thoughts about people who are very successful.  Starting at the prologue, I was shocked to see the name Steven Seagal. Seagal is an actor not many of my friend’s know of but I do because my parents loved the Under Siege series. Also, I never knew I had seen Cox in The Glimmer Man over a decade ago. Brian Cox comes across as a very humble person, who doesn’t take himself too ...
